How about this item:

Aiden's Guidance (or some fancier name lol I'm new to the whole RPG thing):

A monster drop, that uncoveres the "battle fog" from the zone map (only the zone you are in), and reveales the area in ur party's minimap/compass for X seconds. It will also enable the minimap for mission areas like FOW and UW. Can be used only once (like scrolls).

I always want more quests. EQ2 had quest-starter items, otherwise useless little things that disappeared when you used them, but put a quest in your book. Having quests that not everyone can get just by walking up to a stationary NPC would make it a bit more random, and thusly a bit more interesting.

I like that one.... but would only make it one time use (while you are in the map), where after you exit, the place you still havn't uncover will be gone again.

How about a item that will tell you where the chest are in that map? A Chest Radar!
